1031 Basics and Understanding FIRPTA (2CE)

Part I of the course covers Tax Deferred Exchanges under §1031 of the Internal Revenue Code, including its legal basis, terminology, key aspects, and potential risks. After completing this part, real estate agents will be able to explain the 1031 exchange process to clients. Part II focuses on the IRS’s Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act (FIRPTA), discussing its impact on property transactions involving foreign sellers, the necessary terminology, and forms. Upon completion, agents will understand how to determine FIRPTA applicability, complete the required forms, and meet the filing deadlines.
