Newsday published a 2019 three-year investigation into alleged real estate discrimination on Long Island, highlighting the need for fair housing education for real estate licensees. This class aims to equip real estate professionals to understand fair housing laws and practice nondiscriminatory real estate. Students will learn fair housing definitions and history, Florida state and county protections, the seven protected classes, prohibited activities, advertising and marketing best practices, steering and redlining, explicit and implicit bias and how to prevent it, exemptions and reasonable accommodations, and client resources.
