1031 Basics and Understanding FIRPTA (2CE)

Part I of the course covers Tax Deferred Exchanges under 1031 of the Internal Revenue Code, including the legal basis, terminology, key aspects, and potential risks. It prepares real estate agents to effectively explain the 1031 exchange process to clients. Part II focuses on the IRS Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act (FIRPTA) and its implications for real property closings when the seller is foreign. It teaches the necessary information, forms, and filing timeframes for transactions involving FIRPTA withholding.
